Anyways … Christian Perrier started a review and translation process of ipplans debconf templates by the debian-i18n contributors. The templates was in really bad conditions, most of it was copied over from gallery2 and I did know that they wasn’t so good. Thanks for all your work, when the process is over I’m proud to include your really nice work.

Two other packages got updates. php-suhosin got new upstream release after months which fixes the broken perdir/.htaccess support. Unfortunatly I missed the release (cause there is no announcement list and there was no watch file) unless Raphael Geissert did leave a note. I integrated the new VCS and homepage stuff also and formorer did fix some minor issues. So we can hopefully upload now (when it arrives testing) the first package to backport.org and sleep little bit better, when using PHP on stable.
nagios-plugins also got updated. Since Seanius seems really busy (like allways), nobody did really took care of the package. In October it got two CVE which was solved via NMU by the testing-security team, also two new upstream releases where available. So I droped the obsolete patches, integrated new once, did make the new shiny lintian a bit more happy, some minor fixes and queued the package to Seanius. ;)
You can expect both packages on backport.org soon. My other (comaintained) packages will get updated to latest policy and VCS/homepage guidelines in the near future. Actually I’ve to prioritize what to do with the left time slots. :/

* Is the backport neccessary? I don’t think we should upload packages to bpo
simply because we can do it if you can install the package directly from
testing without any recompilation we shouldn’t add it to bpo. Pinning
exists.

So I’m not allowed to upload it to backports.org, but I did upload it to my repro, like the following other packages:

It’s available in etch and bpo, installation is really easy:

Remove unnecessary reject_rbl_client and reject_rhsbl_client checks from main.cf and insert the check_policy_service:

You can create a “/etc/policyd-weight.conf” if you would like to adjusting scores or other policyd-weight parameters. You can get the defaults with “policyd-weight defaults”. For more informations have a look at “/usr/share/doc/policyd-weight/documentation.txt.gz” or http://policyd-weight.org.

A normal day on a backup MX with ~500 domain:

You may think its bad timing, but better late than never!
So I startet with irrtoolset, but its a License mess. Daniel, my sponsor, and me need some more hours to work on. The next try was arpalert, which we did need to discover some dhcp issues. DNS flood detector is used for monitoring dns server abusement and ps-watcher for monitoring that daemons are running by me. With asused you can check your registry’s allocations usage. The last one for now is php5-tidy, which provides tidy functions to php.

All of them are allready uploaded into NEW (of course except irrtoolset). But what I didn’t expected, arpalert was uploaded on 5 Nov 2006 16:20:14 +0100 (CET) into unstable (-;

Another package in the queue is php-suhosin, but mbstrings header are missing in php5-dev (see #391368), but it is fixed with 5.2.0 and I provided a working patch for 5.1.6. So now we are waiting for fixed packages and hoping php-suhosin will make it into etch.

So we did need a solution how to get a recent and maintained php5 package. There are also bugs open related to this topic, see #355976 and #348882 ..
We decided to use the Source Package from bpo and modify the buildscripts. After some trouble in the beginning and reading of the Makefile, this wasn’t realy difficult to get it to work^Wbuild. The diff (without changelog modification) is available here.

You can also inlcude this into you /etc/apt/source.list:
