Today my 30 GB Ipod 5G arrived.
I ordered a refurbished one … the difference to a band new one is, that there is left the stylish paper box, dock adapter for universal dock and the soft case. It looks unused … so at the moment I saved 35% without any noticeable limitations.
On the way to get an acceptable mail client (kmail) on Mac OSX, I installed fink and updated to unstable tree and did run selfupdate-cvs. After the update FinkCommander neither the version shipped by fink 0.8 nor the latest binary package did run anymore.
So I decided to build it from cvs and installed the recent XCode compiler and SDK packages (2.3):
$ cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@finkcommander.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/finkcommander login $ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@finkcommander.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/finkcommander co -P . $ open FinkCommander/FinkCommander.xcodeproj
XCode will start and in the Project menu set Active Build Configuration to Deployment and in the Build menu select Build. After some time the build will be finished, you need to find the FinkCommnader.app and copy it to your Programm folder. Thats it! (-;
The next two weeks, I`ll take some vacations, half of it’s with rarely and slow IP connection. I don’t know right now, if this is luck or bad luck, but I’ll see hows going. I hope the weather will be much better than the last 2 weeks to make some outside activities possible, which may compensate bad IP. Maybe I’ll find some spare time to get in touch with Mac OS X. (-;
I did found a nice site called FlyaKiteOSX, which looks and feel like OSX (on a limited scale) in your browser window. There is an included Finder, a working copy of iTunes (with some samples) and some other nice stuff.
If you would like to get an impression of OSX without buying a Mac, this will be a good chance.
